Bachelor of Medical Science (BMS) in MSU from my POV

assalamualaikum w.b.t...

so, memandangkan tak dapat nak lelapkan mata lagi (02:26), plus ada sedikit cebisan kerajinan untuk menulis meh yanie story serba sikit pasal Bachelor of Medical Science (BMS) di MSU.

sebenarnya rasa nak tulis pasal ni sebab masa search for this course dulu tak jumpa banyak sangat info..most of seniors tak berminat untuk share sangat kot..maka i decided to share at least a point bout it..mana tahu boleh tolong adik2 yang berminat nak continue this course kan :)

here we go..BMS from my sight :)

actually BMS students will face so many questions n even been underestimated (yes, kne persiapkan diri semampu mungkin sebelum jadi student BMS..hee)

the most common question is -
-what is BMS?
-apa beza BMS dengan MBBS?
-why choose BMS?
-student BMS blaja apa je?
-nak keje apa lepas BMS?
-kenapa BMS wujud?? (alamak)

generally, BMS ni macam platform untuk those yang nak sambung MBBS. actually memang untuk those yang plan untuk sambung MBBS pun..maybe untuk directly masuk under MBBS pointer tak cukup, spm x cun, finance tak strong, nak buat double degree, etc..maka wujudnya BMS untuk membantu mereka2 yang really passionate to become a doctor..through a long journey..gitu..

-what is BMS?
--> BMS stand for Bachelor of Medical Science (Hons). nama pun ada 'medical science', so silibus mostly about medical & sciences :)

-apa beza BMS dengan MBBS?

1. BMS 3tahun, MBBS 5 tahun

2. silibus BMS divided into 3years (theory & clinical); silibus MBBS 2yrs theory, 3yrs clinical

3. pressure of study tu mungkin berbeza depends on individual :D

4. BMS tak perlu risau ada paper sangkut or tak..MBBS kena risau sebab ada je possibilities untuk kena ambik balik paper tu.. 

5. dalam BMS research tu stand alone in a semester..dalam MBBS research only as a part of subject in a year.. 

**actually banyak beza dia..nama pun dah lain kann :D

-why people choose BMS?
1. memang nak buat dua degree (suka study/tak tahu nk buat apa/ etc)
2. pointer untuk direct masuk MBBS dari foundation tak cukup
3. kekangan dari segi finance
4. nak be in medical line but taknak jadi Dr
5. etc

-student BMS blaja apa je?
**teruskan baca..kat bawah ada list subject :)

-nak keje apa lepas BMS?
1. researcher
2. insurance consultant
3. pharmaceutical company
4. lecturer
5. etc

-kenapa BMS wujud?? (erkk!)

in case in the middle of the road tetiba rasa macam keinginan untuk jadi Dr tu hilang, tenang je.. sebab BMS ni luas je lagi..banyak lagi kerja boleh dapat dengan BMS ni..nak jadi lecturer, insurans med consultant, keje in drug company (read:pharmaceutical), research assistant and banyak lagi..

sekarang kita go through BMS from the beginning....

awal sem, mula2 masuk BMS students akan face dengan subject2 like anatomy, physiology, bioethics, first aid, basic medical science la senang cerita..anatomy n physiology dipecahkan kepada stiap systems..list of the subjects (masa kitorang dulu - 2014/2017) :

**if u are from diploma, so ada certain subjects dapat exemptions (tak perlu ambik)

-clinical medicine
-pathophysiology of CVS
-pathophysiology of GI system
-pathophysiology of respiratory system

semester 6 (longsem)

-pathophysiology of nervous system
-pathophysiology of genitourinary system
-pathophysiology of endocrine system
-public speaking

semester 7 (shortsem)
-islamic civilisation & civilisation asia (TITAS je kalau bahasa melayu)
-ethnic relation

semester 8 (longsem)
-islamic studies (lebih kurang je actually silibus dgn titas)
-genetic disorder
-pathophysiology of reproductive system
-pathophysiology of hemopoietic & lymphoid system

semester 9 (longsem)
-communicable disease
-pathophysiology of MSK
-forensic medicine
-medical science research project

semester 10 (longsem)
-community medicine (internship)

**ada subject biostatistics jugak but yanie xingat in which sem..sbb yanie dpt exemption that subject..so tak ambik..

for adik2 yang baru nak kenal dengan medical world, pathophysiology tu belajar pasal abnormalities/abnormal condition in each system dalam badan..

 

**the only topic yang sampai sudah i tak minat is embryology..not sure dalam anatomy physiology or dalam pathophysio yang ada embryology..tapi rasanya dua-dua ada..

*tu jugak soalan paling famous dalam exam..

to learn everything awal2 tu memang susah..maybe untuk those yang dah ambik diploma (dip medsc/dip biomed/ dipMA / sewaktu dengannya) mungkin silibus2 tu macam dh biasa cuma lagi detail..but for adik2 from cfs mungkin banyak learn new things la kot..tp takde masalah pun..bila dah minat oke je :))

most of the classes were conducted in class/auditorium/lab..depends on hari tu lecture or lab..clinical skills subjects mostly kelas memang kat wards..u will learn pasal clerking pt, cara ambik darah, pasang iv, suturing, ecg n smua la yang brkait dengan clinical skills..nanti ada osce jugak for this subject..this one is my fav subejct :p

apa lagi nak story pasal BMS ni ey..as for me, BMS is a good course sebab boleh jadi platform for those yang ada kekangan or tak berkesempatan nak directly enroll in MBBS..and dia broad..mungkin kat malaysia it still macam takde nampak exact opportunity sangat in kerjaya but sebenarnya luas je..

tapi for those yang concern bout age when graduating, bout job, bout time for study etc, mungkin need to reconsider..sebab dulu memang la from BMS boleh directly masuk 3rd year MBBS..but not sure why dorang ubah kena masuk from 1st year balik..ngee

no course has no good..it just need us to see from the positive side :)

whatever pun, when there's a will there's a way kannn..course mana2 pun kena ada will :)

and for those who are in the middle of the road already and rasa macam menyesal ambik course ni, u r already there..if sebelum ni memang niat tu nak sambung mbbs tapi dah tawar hati, its okay..Allah tu adil..Dia tak bolak-balikkan hati kita tanpa perancangan..mungkin awak tawar hati tu pun sebab Dia ada plan lagi best kat depan..so, husnuzon n sentiasa buat yang terbaik..believe in yourself, and have faith in Him..

untuk stop in the middle of anything that u had begin bukan semudah typing..it cost lots more than that..if u are taking a loan, procedure untuk terminate loan bukanlah sesimple yang kita imagine..if u are a private student, its a lot more n more to think..berapa banyak dah duit parents habis to begin this one..and to begin another one will cost another RM..

tak semestinya ambik course ni untuk jadi Dr je..u can change to be a researcher..cuma kena rujuk orang yang betul untuk next pathway tu..jangan cari orang yang salah to seek for help..

i think benda paling worst is the feeling of regretting what we already choose..so, jangan pernah menyesal untuk buat benda yang ada positif dia..

**ohh n for those yang tanya why me choose bms instead of mbbs terus, sebab yanie memang suka study..sounds nonsense kan..haha..tapi betul..sbb memang nak buat both..

sbb for me bms is great course for u to explore both - research n clinical experiences..so that nanti boleh cekalkan hati bebetul nak yang mana satu..plus in the future siapa tahu both can help u in anything kan..haha
